Wallingford Art Walk

www.WallingfordArtWalk.org

The Wallingford Art Walk of 2009 was kicked off to a fine start on the first Wednesday of May 2009. It ran monthly from May to October. The clowns with bike and wagon stocked to the brim with promotional materials made their way around to different participating businesses. There was solo and African live music playing on the Wallingford Center patio. Julia's, Babalu, Re-Leaf Massage and Lucky 7 Barbers all had specials to draw the crowds in. Many businesses provided generous and tasty nibbles, beverages and even cupcakes & punch like at Trophy Cupcakes & Party.

Janet reports: He and his entourage, including his lovely wife Sharon, arrived at the Neighborhood Office at 11am, with the head of the Department of Neighborhoods, Stella Chao, and Tim Durkan of her staff, and an entourage which consisted of folks from various city departments. Mayor with entourage walked and met business owners from the Rusty Pelican, Harold’s Lamps and Shades, Not a Number, all the shops in the Wallingford Center, Fuel Coffee, the Reweaving Place where the Mayor visited with Phyllis the reweaving lady, Solid Ground and the Food Bank, and finally the Boy’s and Girls Club.

The mayor was very interested in how the businesses are doing and what the neighborhood service organizations need to continue to serve the public in these difficult financial times.
